Hackathon 201904 Aberdeen Scotland

There will be a Hackathon 17th-19th of April 2019 at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. This event is placed at the half way point between AsiaBSDCon and BSDCan to give ardent hackers something to fill their time. Hacker Lounge

The Hacker Lounge is in Room 213 Fraser Noble Building.

Travel

Air

Aberdeen Airport (ABZ) is well connected both domestically and to hubs in Europe. There are several flights a day between Aberdeen and London Heathrow (LHR), Paris CDG and AMS.

Taxis from Aberdeen airport into the city cost around £20 and take about 30 minutes. There is an airport shuttle bus that operates from early in the morning to late at night which is much cheaper. The airport bus route passes quite close to the University.

Rail

Aberdeen is connected by rail to the rest of the UK, but the rail network is expensive to use and journeys can take a long time. There is a sleeper train connecting London Kings Cross to Aberdeen.

Accommodation

Any central hotel (On or near Union St) should be easy to get from the airport and be well linked to the University. The Marriott Residence INN is very new and located in the newly refurbished square around Marshall College. The IBIS is also central and more budget friendly.

Weekend activities

The local area is very scenic. It is possible to hire a minibus or car if there is interest and explore Deeside or Spey Valley.

We can order in food, use the University cafeteria or the local facilities.

Registration will open some months before the event, in the meantime please register your interest here. Enter yourself here as well for travel coordination to and from the event. Deadline for registration is March 31st, 2019.

Developers are welcome to invite guests to attend the hackathon, subject to their tolerance for ceaseless hours of kernel-hacking and availability of space at the venue.
