FreeBSD Developer Summit: Documentation Translation
Schedule: May 16th, 13:30-15:00 (Thursday)
Where: DMS 1130
Session chair: EdsonBrandi ebrandi@
Overview
The purpose of this working group is to discuss the adoption of a web tool to facilitate the translation of official FreeBSD documentation into other languages.
We have obtained excellent results in using Zanata for translating documentation to pt_BR (and for some other languages), and we will introduce and discuss the difficulties we faced, the benefits to the volunteers productivity and the final results that we have obtained over the last months.
We will also discuss the use of automated translations by machine learning to generate the first drafts of the translated documents, the difficulties we faced, the pros and cons of this approach, and the results we have obtained.
To participate, please contact the working group chair EdsonBrandi ebrandi@ and CC devsummit@.
People who cannot attend in person might be able to participate through video conferencing or chat tools.
