FreeBSD Developer Summit PCI Working Group
May 11th (Wednesday), 15:00-16:30, SMD room 428
Overview
As part of the May 2011 FreeBSD developer summit, this working group will focus on PCI support in FreeBSD. This is a by-invitation event open to developer summit attendees.
There are several gaps in FreeBSD's PCI support. Many of these gaps are features needed by multiple commercial consumers of FreeBSD. A specific example is HotPlug PCI. The goal of this working group is to gather representatives from multiple interested parties all in the same room and hash out plans for each of the desired PCI features as well as to establish the priority of each of of the desired features.
Specific Features
HotPlug PCI
- Advanced Error Reporting
- Bus renumbering
- Better support for PCI-PCI bridge allocations
- Using multipass to parse all PCI resource requirements before attaching drivers
